Blackfish, or more commonly known as tog, are a cold water fish inhabiting wrecks, rock piles, coral bottom, and reef sites. Precision anchoring over these structures is the best way to catch these great fish. These great eating fish are pound for pound the strongest fighting inshore fish in our local waters of South Jersey. Blackfish average 3-7lbs with big fish topping the 20lb mark. If you have never fished for or caught blackfish, the best way to describe them is they are New Jersey's version of grouper.
